其實英文中的片語是很好玩的~

雖然因為對於文化的不理解，有些如果不硬背根本不懂在說什麼......

大概就跟老外看成語的感覺差不多吧

可萊又準備了一些片語，要來幫助大家變得更像老外啦~

1. clean sb. out : 花光(某人的錢)

 Buying the gifts has cleaned Tom out.

 (買禮物花光了Tom身上所有的錢。)

2. to make up for : 補償

 Love will make up for his want of money.

 (愛情會補償他金錢的不足。)

3. beside the point : 不中肯

 I think that's your nonsense. That's beside the points.

 (我認為那是胡扯。你離題太遠了。)

4. to take a toll on sb. : 使...付出代價

 The stress was starting to take a toll on him.

 (壓力正開始讓他覺得不輕鬆。)

5. by and large : 總的來說

 There are a few smaill things that I don't like about my job, but by and large it's very enjoyable.

 (雖然有些小地方讓我不太滿意，但總的來說我還是很喜歡這份工作。)

6. at all risk : 不計代價；冒一切風險

 I then resolved to go up to him at all risk.

 (我決心不顧一切地到他那去。)

 7. to raise the bar : 使標準變高

 Just as I was getting accustomed to my job, the manager raised the bar and I had to perform even better.

 (正當我漸漸適應這份工作，經理就提高對我的要求，我就變得必須表現得更好。)

8. to look up to : 尊敬

 We all looked up to him.

 (大家都另眼看待他們。)

9. be open to negotiation : 有討論空間

 He proceeded to open to negotiations looking toward the surrender of Italy.

 (他著手談判，為義大利投降做準備。)

10. to put oneself out : 幫助他人

 John is always willing to put himself out for other people.

 (John總是願意幫助他人。)
